Trend Lab Issues Recall for Children’s Upholstered Chairs

On October 18, 2012, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall by Trend Lab LLC in Burnsville, Minnesota for their children’s upholstered toddler chairs.  The company has reported that the staples in the back of the chair can easily come loose and cause a laceration or choking hazard for a child.

The CPSC believes about 16,850 units are affected by this recall, but no injuries have been reported so far.

The recalled toddler chairs come in a Club style and a Mod style.  The dimensions of the chair are 24 inches wide, 18 inches tall and 17 inches deep.  An ottoman comes with the chair, but the ottoman is not involved in the recall.

The Club style chairs come in three different fabrics and multiple colors.  The suede chairs come in brown, pink, avocado green, red and turquoise.  The velour chairs come in blue, green, pink, and red.  The print fabric comes in chocolate dot on pink or blue.

The Mod style chairs come in two different fabrics.  The velour chairs come in dark pink or blue or pink zebra.  The printed fabric chairs come in pink or blue with chocolate stripes.

Check for the Trend Lab label on the bottom of the chair and look for the date codes TL1007C through TL0812C.  The affected chairs were produced in October of 2007 through August of 2012.

The chairs were sold online by Trend Lab, Amazon, Babies R Us, Target, Walmart, and Seussland.  They were also sold by Buy Buy Baby and other specialty stores from November of 2007 to August of 2012.  They sold for roughly $100 to $140.

If you have a recalled chair, you need to take the chair away from your child or children immediately.  Contact Trend Lab at (866) 814-7978 for information on a repair kit.
